Sindh Graduates Association (SGA) involves engaging communities, particularly marginalized groups, to take collective action in addressing local challenges. By organizing healthcare camps, educational programs, and skill development initiatives, SGA empowers individuals to improve their own well-being. This collaborative approach strengthens community involvement, aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and fosters sustainable progress in health, education, and social development across Sindh.
Presently SGA is working on Social Mobilizatin in District Sanghar, Nawabshah, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Ghotki and Shikarpur in collaboration
with RSPN/ USAID/ UNICEF and Khushhali Bank respectively since last over six to ten years. The major area of intervention under this program is rural Sindh. The prime activities carried out by SGA are as follows:
SGA in collaboration with Actionaid Pakistan (2000-2009) had rendered services in Education, Health, Right based Advocacy on women empowerment/ rights, Child rights, Capacity Building, NRM etc. in Union Councils of Taluka Khipro District Sanghar, out of which SGA has formed 63 COs (Male: 17, Female: 46) in UC Hathoongo, Bilawal Hingoro and Kamil Hingoro. It is worth while to mention here that most COs are registered with Local Government Under CCB. They are equipped with capacity Building Program and obtained small Schemes from local Government/ Donor Agencies for their respective villages in connection with Rural Support Program. During 2008, SGA in collaboration with Actionaid Pakistan had under taken Micro Financing to the women of UC Hathoongo, Taluka Khipro, District Sanghar. The program was focused on Live Stock and Small Business and 60 women were benefited from this program.

A part from this venture, SGA has also rendered services on social mobilization in collaboration with Khushhali Bank in perspective of Poverty Alleviation by formation of Community Organizations (COs) in the District of Larkana, Ghotki, Shikarpur and Mirpurkhas since 2002. Under this program, the Association has formed 4459 COs and disbursed small loans amounting to Rs. 359.730 Million with the coverage of 26,815 House Holds. SGA is presently rendering services of Social Mobilization in District Sanghar in collaboration with RSPN/USAID for Family Advancement for Life and Health (FALAH). The major theme of program is to mobilize and motivate local community by formation of COs (Male and Female) on birth spacing methods. The focused COs are married couples ranging their age from 14-49 years. The program has been started from February 2008 and SGA has intervened in 5 UCs of Taluka Khipro and formed 284 COs (Male 142, Female 142) as on 30-06-2009.
KBL project (2002-2022)
Keeping in view the severity of the state of poverty in Sindh ad consequent impacts, the Sindh Graduates Association decided to take its role to alleviate the poverty in Sindh. The enhancement of entrepreneurship and promotion of agriculture and livestock sectors in Sindh, SGA has made an agreement with khushali bank. As per agreement signed between Sindh Graduates Association (SGA) and Khushali Bank Ltd, the Service provider SGA has to identify and organize the potential and prospect household HHDS willing to start their own Business or willing to invest their own money to develop small area of their agriculture land or animals. As per agreement the role of SGA is from groups of 5-10 people.
Objectives of the project
Capacity building of KBL project staff:
Sindh Graduates association is running mega project for the poverty alleviation in rural areas of Sindh. This project is running with a Team of Social Mobilizers whose responsibilities is to mobilize the people through formation of their social groups. In this project 59 Social mobilizers are engaged at 17 locations/branches. The capacity building of the social mobilizers 2 days training were conducted in 2 groups, one each at Hyderabad and other at larkana.
Success stories of Social Mobilization:
1)

The first success story of poor farmer namely Mr Dhani Bux Bozdar who grew his career from a poor farmer to a shopkeeper which he then developed his little shop / business as a source of his earnings. Besides, he also purchased two cows and and some goats from the earnings from his little bussiness through SGA team and KBL in 2012.
SGA and KBL project office ratodero visited village thango bozdar taulka ratodero, district larkana ,SGA introduced the khushali mirco finance program and Sindh Graduates Association as service provider. SGA Social Mobilizer Mr. Abdul karim formed a Community group (CG) in the said village and submitted the list of prospectus clients (LPC) to KBL for process of loan and verification of clients in accordance with the policy of the bank for for group loaning financial services to the CG member Mr.Dhani Bux Bozdar was also one of the group members who successfully acquired loan/ financial services from the bank.
2) 2016
The Second Success Story of a poor person who was looking forward for financial services to setup his own business on livestock but he was not aware in this regard to get financial services from banking sector. So Sindh graduates association team visited and met Mr.Pirbho who lives in village Nasir mor, taulka and district mirpurkhas. SGA-KBL Social mobilization team visited the village Nisar mor and conducted project introduction and mobilized clients regarding financial services of micro credit. A group was mobilized in the village, wherein pirbho was taken as a group member. All five members of the group submitted their valid CNICs copies and then SGA social Mobilizer Mr Irfan Ali Shar, Social Mobilizer SGA-KBL Social Mobilization office mirpurkhas prepared list of prospectus clients (LPC) and then submitted at khushali bank mirpurkhas branch for verification of the clients, loan officer of KBL processed the case of the group members for financial services. Each member of the group was given 25000 as first cycle loan for 1year period.

In order to utilize the loan amount on livestock, pirbho purchased four goats from the market. The goats were given full diet to get fat and got them ready for Eid-ul-azha. Subsequently, pirbho purchases goats for sacrifice on regular basis and also started this small business at small scale. In this process he got benefit and then returned the loan amount to the Bank in accordance to the policy and prodecdure of the repayment.
3)2017
The Third Success Story of an underprivileged person who had ideas but no money to start his own business at small level. SGA has been working with KBL tandho allahyar since 2013. SGA team member Mr shaukat ali rind visited and met Ali akbar who lives in village shajar chang, district tando allahyar and conducted project introduction and mobilized clients regarding financial services of micro credit. A group was mobilized in the village, wherein ali kabar was teken as a group member. All five members of the group submitted their valid CNICs copies and then SGA social Mobilizer Mr. shaukat ali rind prepared list of prospectus clients (LPC) and then submitted at khushali bank tando allahyar branch for verification of the clients, loan officer of KBL processed the case of the group members for financial services. Each member of the group was given 25000 as first cycle loan for 1year period on livestock.
In order to utilized the loan amount on live stock, Ali akbar purchased a goat from the market and started to sell carrots on bi-cycle.the goat and his small business yiels savings and he returned the loan amount. Subsequently, Ali akber improved his small business and and yielding a handsome amount on regular basis. He continued getting loan from KBL and in 4th cycle he received the a loan size of 75000 to improve and enhanced his business at present he has got two buffalo and shop of sweets and nimko, pakora, samosa cold drink at shajar chang town.
