Key projects include the Working Women Hostel, accommodating 109 residents, and a Youth Hostel supporting unemployed youth. The branch organized cultural events, provided flood relief donations, and distributed free books. Financial and educational support initiatives were also undertaken, with grants received to settle dues and aid the community.
The Sindh Graduates Association (SGA) Islamabad Branch celebrated its 47th year of establishment in 2023, reflecting on a wide range of activities and accomplishments from 2022-2023. The branch, established on October 15, 1976, currently has 170 members, including 32 female members, and operates out of the Shah Abdul Lateef Bhittai Community Center in Islamabad.
Key initiatives include:
Working Women Hostel (WWH): The hostel currently accommodates 109 residents and provides facilities like a mess, internet, backup electricity, laundry, and security. A 200KVA transformer was installed in 2022 to support the hostel’s operations.
Youth Hostel: The branch provides accommodation for unemployed youth, with a capacity of 25 guests. Over the past year, 293 individuals have utilized the facility.
Cultural and Literary Events: The branch hosted several literary sittings, book launches, and discussions, including celebrations of the “Breaking of One Unit Golden Jubilee” and a book launch by Ambassador M. Alam Brohi. Additionally, they held events commemorating SGA’s 46th Foundation Day.
Social Initiatives: The SGA branch provided relief and donations for flood-affected families in Sindh and Balochistan, raising approximately Rs. 1 million. They also held collective Qurbani during Eid and supported individuals in need.
Educational and Library Support: Free books were distributed, and donations were made to the Dr. Feroz Library, including publications like “Sindh under One Unit” and “Shah Jo Risalo.”
Financial Support: The branch received a grant of Rs. 25 lacs from SGA Markaz to settle dues with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and provided financial aid to a needy individual.
